Established in 1900, the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) is one of the oldest and most prominent biomedical research institutions in Malaysia. Operating under the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health Malaysia, IMR plays a central role in advancing medical research, public health, and scientific innovation in the country.
IMR’s work spans a broad spectrum of disciplines, including infectious and zoonotic diseases, environmental and occupational health, toxicology, pathology, natural product research, genomics, and vaccine development. With its longstanding history, state-of-the-art facilities, and multidisciplinary scientific expertise, IMR continues to contribute significantly to evidence-based public health policies and national health priorities.
